Dr. Jack Wazen, neurotology specialist in Sarasota, FL, speaks to the importance of treating bilateral hearing loss with the Cochlear™ Baha® System.

In his TECH Talk, Dr. Wazen talks about how humans are designed to hear from both sides of their head. He explains that if a patient has a hearing loss in both ears then both ears need to be treated. When the two ears are working together, it brings about better hearing performance outcomes and better localization of sound.

Dr. Wazen goes on to say, if a patient has conductive or mixed bilateral hearing loss, the Baha System is a good treatment option. This is especially important for children. Dr. Wazen explains it is important for children to have the proper tools for better learning. He says, “To have a child to go school with half-hearing, is really not providing them with adequate tools to maximally gain learning experience.”
