This foundational-level course is designed to provide Audiologists who are new to cochlear implants information about Nucleus implants and the surgical process for receiving an implant. Attendees will learn the different types of implants and when they are used as well as valuable information for counseling candidates who are considering a Nucleus implant.

Learning Outcomes

  • After this course learners will be able to list the features and benefits of Nucleus implants, including both receiver stimulators and electrode arrays.
  • After this course learners will be able to describe the MRI compatibility of Nucleus implants and list advantages of a removable magnet.
  • After this course learners will be able to explain how to counsel recipients about the medical considerations of surgery for nucleus implants
