Cochlear is proud to announce expanded features with the Cochlear™ Nucleus® 7 Sound Processor. The Nucleus 7 Sound Processor revolutionized comfort and connectivity when it was introduced last year as the only Made for iPhone behind-the-ear cochlear implant sound processor.
Now, we have expanded the features of the industry’s smallest and lightest1 sound processor to include Android™ compatibility.
Nucleus® Smart App: First for iPhone®. First for Android™
The upcoming release of the Nucleus® Smart App for Android™ in the United States and Canada, offers the same great connectivity Apple® device users have experienced. Cochlear implant recipients with the Nucleus® 7 Sound Processor can now control and monitor their hearing with the Nucleus Smart App* from a compatible Android™ device.
And don’t forget, Android device users can stream audio to their Nucleus processor with the Cochlear Phone Clip.
Nucleus 24 Implant Compatibility
In addition to the new performance features, the Nucleus 7 Sound Processor will be available for the first time to people with a Nucleus 24 Series Implant expanding the compatibility reach to over 320,000 globally registered implants2. Cochlear is committed to ensuring all its customers have access to the latest sound processor technology by making them backward compatible with earlier generation implants.
Clinician Enabled Performance
Hearing in noise is the most challenging listening situation for any individual. Cochlear’s industry leading technology, SmartSound® iQ with SCAN**, seamlessly combines multiple sound algorithms to help patients hear their best by automatically and continually monitoring their environment. 3 ForwardFocus** is an additional clinician enabled, user activated performance feature designed to further improve hearing performance in background noise.
Future Release of Custom Sound 5.1
The expanded features of the Nucleus 7 Sound Processor are enabled through a firmware update through Custom Sound 5.1. On July 30, 2018, Custom Sound 5.1 will be available for download. This update to Custom Sound requires a database upgrade so please plan accordingly if you need assistance from your IT department. We will be offering software installation support through a new scheduling system the details of which will be provided in mid-July.
